Panzerkampfwagen V ‘Panther’ Ausf. D #445 | Battle of Kursk | 1/35 Tamiya Scale Model

My model is a replica of Panther #445, which was deployed to the Eastern Front in August 1943 at the Battle of Kursk. Panzerkampfwagen V Panther Ausf. D #445 fought and was destroyed in the battle around Karatschev. Panther #445 was destroyed by two shell hits on the turret side.

Photo of the actual Panther #445, destroyed in the Battle of Kursk.

The Panther was developed in response to the Soviet T-34, which outclassed earlier German tanks during Operation Barbarossa. While technically advanced, the Panther’s complexity and resource-intensiveness exemplify the difficulties Germany faced during the later stages of the war.
