Hey and welcome! I am going to get right into this. For more background on how and why I got into hobby-making, check out this post. I am open to critique and please feel free to leave a comment on this post for any tips and advice. This is only my third build.

Sturmtiger

The Sturmtiger, officially known as the Sturmmörserwagen 606/4 mit 38 cm RW 61, was a unique German heavy assault vehicle developed during World War II. Its primary purpose was to provide close-range firepower for urban and fortified combat situations, a role born out of the challenges faced by German forces during battles like Stalingrad and the Warsaw Uprising. This thing looks kinda cool and it is unlike any tank that I have ever seen with its short yet powerful cannon. Only a few of these were made.

The finished product- around 16 hours worth of work over three days.
Starting with the hull and weights.
Applying a base coat just to make my life easier down the road.

These little alligator clips make painting large and small parts a breeze. A great investment!

Putting together the tracks on the hull took about two hours from start to finish. Very tedious work, but they turned out much better than my Panzer IV build. I still have some improvements to make in the future.

Using putty and acetone worked great for the texture of the hull. I was thrilled with how this turned out.

I was thrilled with how the exhaust turned out. I used some pigment and a sponge with flat paint on it.

Time for some detailed work! I used some rust washes. I did this to the tracks but I really wasn’t happy with how it turned out. So I returned and added some dusting to the tracks by mixing some Tamiya paints.

These were the tracks that I wasn’t too happy with after rust washing.

(See final pics for how I re-did the tracks!
